CHISINAU, August 2 – Moldova’s agricultural output decreased by 5% on the year in the first half of 2017, mainly due to a strong drop in the plant production sector, the country’s statistical office, BNS, said.
“The decline in plant production was influenced by a delay in the crop harvesting campaign caused by extremely unfavourable climatic conditions in the spring of this year,” BNS
Plant production decreased by 28.4% on the year in the six months through June, while livestock production edged down by 0.4%.
During the January-June period of 2017 households of all categories registered an increase in egg production by 6.6%, while the production of cattle and poultry dropped by 0.8%.
